Manchester
United legend, Lou Macari, has expressed his regret following Peter
Odemwingie’s injury in the Potters win over Manchester City at the
Etihad on Saturday.
The 32-year-old suffered a knee ligament injury that could keep him out of Stoke City’s campaign for the rest of the season.
“Your heart has to go out to Peter Odemwingie,” Macari told Stoke Sentinel.
“He had a great first few months at
Stoke after arriving from Cardiff in January, goes to the World Cup with
Nigeria and scores a goal, now this.
“The cruciate knee ligament injury is a funny one because a player doesn’t always know how serious it is at the time.
“You do worry for players with long-term injuries and whether they will come back as quite the player they were,” he added.
A cruciate ligament injury normally
requires orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation which could take between
six months and a year to heal.
