The
vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof.
Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), on Monday, said that the APC presidential
candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has concrete plans to end
poor electricity supply in the country.
Osinbajo spoke at a town hall meeting organised by the Concerned Christian Network in Ikorodu area of Lagos on Monday.
The APC candidate said that corruption
was the root of the country’s problems and reiterated plans to transform
the power sector in order to drive industrial growth.
He said, “Our focus is also going to be
on power to help our economy to grow. Ikeja, which is the capital of
Lagos State, is consuming 40 per cent of power generated alone. We are
going to decentralise power so that we can have decentralised power
plants all over the country. If we do that there will be no need for all
the power going to the grid which requires gas.
“It is all about voting out a corrupt
government and putting in place a government that will do the right
things. Nigeria is running an abnormal government. The way people steal
and deny others the benefit of democracy is wrong. Under Buhari, the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will have the full liberty to
do its work.”
