It will be a day of celebration because Borussia have a Champions League home match again. It will be a feast regardless of the result. It makes no sense to go into this match afraid, just wanting to avoid damage.

We didn't win the right to play in the Champions League at the county fair. This team was outstanding last term and deserves to be here. We also want to attack and show what we can do.

Manchester City are a very good side with outstanding players, but for me, they are not an overwhelmingly superior side. We are not star-struck. We will try to stifle their qualities and show ours. Their recent defeats are nothing to do with this game. This is just about the Champions League.

City have several injury doubts

We want to put in a good performance here, to give our best and get a win. We still have five games to go but we will have to be at our best here. It is not like in the Premier League, where you can make good on a defeat later.

Vincent Kompany is a very important player. He is our captain and started the season well. But I never believe one player makes the difference. Last season we won six games without him. We have a strong squad, but having 11 players on the sidelines is too much to cope with.

Of course, [Mönchengladbach's] motivation will be very high, especially after their difficult start to the season. Now they have won two games in a row. It will be a tough game against a good team and we will have to play well to win.

Three days after getting off the Bundesliga mark by beating Augsburg 4-2, Mönchengladbach moved out of the relegation zone with a second victory under interim coach André Schubert.

Kevin De Bruyne gave Manchester City a 25th-minute lead but after that it all went wrong for the visitors, who have fallen behind Manchester United at the Premier League summit after this second successive top-flight defeat.

His replacement Schubert will be confident his side can maintain their upward trend against an out-of-sorts City, who have incurred back-to-back league losses.
